(ANSA) - ROME, 01 SEPT - Lang Lang and the Goldberg Variations, the result of the double challenge of the Chinese pianist to conquer the `` Musical Everest '' composed by Johann Sebastian Bach, reaches the general public on 4 September.

With the release for the Deutsche Grammophon label of the cd in the studio and the video of the live performance in the Church of St. Thomas in Leipzig, the remains of the German genius of music are laid down, the Asian champion of the piano crowns twenty years of research on the monumental masterpiece.

The two versions of the composition in the recording room and live, proposed for the first time simultaneously, can be purchased together as part of a super deluxe edition.

"Now I am 38 years old and, although I am not old, I thought that the time was right for a new stage in my artistic journey - explains Lang Lang -. I moved to a new terrain with Goldberg Variations and I really immersed myself completely in this project. My goal as an artist is to continue to become more self-aware and more informed, as well as continue to offer inspiration to others.

It's an ongoing process, but this project has taken me a little further along the way. "

The pianist's long journey to discover one of the hilarious baroque musicians began with the first lessons on Bach's music given during his youth in China.

He was only 17 when he played the Goldberg Variations by heart for conductor and pianist Christoph Eschenbach, an experience both musicians considered unforgettable.

LangLang then confronted himself with great performers experienced in the performance of Bach's music such as the conductor Nikolaus Harnoncourt and the harpsichordist AndreasStaier.

Recording the famous Aria and the 30 variations of the great composer is the fulfillment of a dream that has accompanied him throughout his life and the goal of a continuous evolution.
