The new season "Love Island" started on RTL2 on Monday evening, but things are starting to shaky: presenter Jana Ina Zarella tested positive for the new corona virus.
The broadcaster RTL announced this on its website, Zarella confirmed the diagnosis.
"Now it has got me too," said the 43-year-old in a video on her Instagram account.
Filming for the reality TV format on Mallorca has been going on for a week.
As always, she submitted to a test after her return to Germany, said Zarella.
Although she did not show any symptoms herself, this was positive.
Zarella therefore has to go into quarantine.
"A slap in the face. I am extremely careful, always wear masks," said Zarella in the video message.
However, her family was not sick with Covid-19.
As RTL announced, all employees on the set in Mallorca who had contact with Zarrella will be tested and sent to quarantine as a precaution.
Medical staff is always present at the production site.
Until the risk of infection is over, soccer wife Cathy Hummels will step in as a presenter on "Love Island".
Hummels had previously moderated the talk format "Love Island: The Talk After", which is broadcast after the show.
