Prime Minister Conte to the governor of Sicily: 'We are aware of the difficulties faced by migrants but no to slogans' (ANSA)

"Within two days, three new quarantine ships will arrive in Lampedusa - and the migrants will be transferred there".

This was stated by the governor of Sicily, Nello Musumeci, at the end of the meeting with the Prime Minister, Giuseppe Conte on the migrant crisis.

"We are not going back a single millimeter - he added -, we have opened a breach in a wall that looked like reinforced concrete. In words, there is the will of the government to solve the problem of hot spots." Differences of views remain with the government, which has proposed some initiatives but unrelated to a calendar, outside of precise deadlines ".

Conte a Musumeci, aware difficulties but no slogan

 - "We are aware of the difficulties you are experiencing and of the need to study together the most effective solutions to face these difficulties. But we also know that the phenomenon has always been complex and slogans to address it, but initiatives at various levels and well-synergistic and well-coordinated interventions are needed ".

This is what Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte said during the immigration summit with Governor Nello Musumeci.

Conte, we will strengthen patrols at sea

 - "The Tunisian government has just been formed and the conditions are now in place for intensifying repatriation. We are confident that we will strengthen the repatriation program by also using more flexible systems, including maritime transport. We strengthen the patrolling of international waters, intensifying the naval units of the Pelage operation, restarted today to combat illicit trafficking. We have already prepared the strengthening of this operation, which sees the involvement of our Navy, Coast Guard and Financial Police. In agreement with the Tunisian authorities we aim to obtain a deterrent effect with respect to possible new departures ".

This is what Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte explained during the summit on the migrant dossier with Governor Nello Musumeci.

Conte, in the first part of his speech, illustrated the measures to contain flows and landings.

"Then there is the European management level: we involved the European Commission and Ministers Di Maio and Lamorgese were in Tunisia with the European Commissioners Johansson and Várhelyi precisely to set up European solutions", he stressed.
