Protesters gathered on Tuesday the day after a black man died, killed by police who claim he was armed with a pistol.
The victim was riding a bicycle early Monday afternoon when two patrolling officers attempted to arrest him for a traffic violation.
It is not yet clear what offense he was accused of.
According to the account from the Sheriff's office, the man then "ran away" after leaving his bike behind and punching an officer in the face.
Police said the man was armed.
It is for this reason that they opened fire.
"He was in possession of a firearm and attacked an officer," Lt. Dean insisted, indicating that an investigation had been opened.
The man was identified on the spot, by relatives, as Dijon Kizzee, 29 years old.
According to local media, around 100 people gathered at the scene of the shooting on Monday evening to demonstrate.
On Tuesday another demonstration was organized to demand answers.
