Demi Lovato decided to empty her bag.
Struggling with drugs for a few years, the 28-year-old singer seems to have cast out her demons after being close to death in 2018 following an overdose.
In an open letter published on
Vogue
, she spoke about the news and the changes she wants to see in the coming years.

“As I sit down to write this letter, we are in month six of the global health crisis. When we first locked ourselves in, I had just performed at the Super Bowl and the Grammys. (...) I felt secure in my career. When it all stopped, I felt adrift, like many others who read these lines, I'm sure, ”she
begins.
Demi Lovato explains that the pandemic has rekindled the anxiety that has always characterized her.
To the point of asking a whole bunch of questions about death, work or the future.

The singer does not hesitate to approach a sensitive subject like its relation to "
mental illness
" and "
depression
".
“One of the positive aspects of the pandemic is that it has shed light on mental health like never before.
For many years, mental illness was seen as a disgrace.
It comes from ignorance.
People just didn't understand what it was, people were afraid of words like anxiety and depression, ”she
explains, delighted that things were moving in the right direction.

In addition to the coronavirus and the acceptance of mental disorders, Demi Lovato wanted to talk about another cause close to her heart: Black Lives Matter.

"I hated sharing the same skin color as those accused of committing heinous crimes against Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, George Floyd and many, many other black lives."
