(ANSA) - KUWAIT CITY, 03 SEP - In Kuwait, eight female judges have been sworn in for the first time, after a long legal battle to allow exponents of the female gender to fill this role too: the official Kuwait News (Kuna) agency reported.
Although Kuwaiti society is one of the most open in the Gulf, with women in government positions, some traditional families impose strict restrictions on the movement of their relatives. Women in Kuwait were granted the right to vote and run for political office in 2005.
Four years later, the first female MPs were elected. (HANDLE).
