A breath of fresh air for old stones.
Heritage has been allocated the largest envelope from the Ministry of Culture, as part of the recovery plan presented this Thursday by Jean Castex.
Some 614 million euros, out of the two billion euros allocated to Roselyne Bachelot's portfolio, will be devoted to it.
They are divided into two major projects.
Restoration of historical monuments (280 million euros) on one side and, on the other, support for the resumption of activity of public heritage establishments (the Louvre, the Palace of Versailles, the Musée d'Orsay, the Center Pompidou, the Grand-Palais, in particular, for a total of 334 million euros).
“These establishments have suffered greatly from the crisis.
The Palace of Versailles, for example, saw its attendance drop by 80%, ”insists the minister's office.
A cathedrals plan
Within this plan, the cathedrals of the hexagon will benefit from an envelope of 80 million euros to accelerate their restoration.
And one hundred million euros will go directly to the castle of Villers-Cotterêts, in the Aisne, currently under construction.
"It's a strong signal, it's great, we fought well," welcomes Stéphane Bern, who spoke on several occasions with Roselyne Bachelot about the situation of heritage sites.
The government has realized that behind these stones, there are men and women, trades, French know-how, who depend on these sites currently at a standstill.

For him, heritage can greatly contribute to reviving the economy.
"It is one of the rare sectors of equality between towns and the countryside," said the host.
Because it is there, in the municipalities of less than 2000 inhabitants, which often feel abandoned by the State, that one finds 52% of the built heritage.
And it is a source of pride for the inhabitants.

The press, books, cinema and public broadcasting are allocated 428 million euros.
"A compensation fund of 100 million euros will go to theaters and cinema, in addition to the envelope of two billion euros, promises the ministry of Roselyne Bachelot.
