It would probably be a medium-sized medical miracle.
But around a month after the devastating explosion in the port of the Lebanese capital, Beirut, rescue workers may have discovered evidence of another survivor.
Under the rubble of a collapsed house, a Chilean rescue team and their search dog identified a sign of life.
According to the fire department, these are indications of a person who is breathing.
According to the British Guardian, signs of a heart rate between 18 and 19 beats per minute have been found.
According to the Lebanese media, two bodies were found under the rubble.
The governor of Beirut, Marwan Abbud, told the dpa news agency that there may be a survivor.
The Guardian quotes Youseef Malah, who is involved in the rescue work: "99 percent of the time there is nothing. But even if we only have one percent hope, we have to keep looking."
In fact, the chances of survival in the summer heat for such a long period are negligible.
The search work continued after dark until late in the evening, but was then interrupted.
The helpers tried to get through the rubble from above, it said.
However, the destroyed walls would have moved and could collapse.
No risk should be taken.
The army had given instructions to interrupt the rescue work.
They should be continued with a crane on Friday morning.
Some outraged eyewitnesses voiced their displeasure at the interruption of the rescue work.
They demanded the immediate use of a crane and shouted "Shame on you".
Only the ground floor of the house has been preserved
In the evening, headlights illuminated the place where the three-story house in the Beirut district of Dschemmeiseh had collapsed.
Only the ground floor remains of the building, the upper floors have almost completely collapsed.
The building is only a few hundred meters away from the explosion site in Beirut harbor
At least 190 people were killed and more than 6,000 injured in the disaster on August 4.
The port and large parts of the surrounding residential areas were severely damaged.
According to the Lebanese Ministry of Health, seven people were missing until recently.
