The product warning consumer portal warns of certain masks.
The respiratory protection should not provide sufficient protection against corona.
More and more brands are affected.
Not every respiratory mask reliably protects against corona
The consumer portal product warning reports a new recall *
Certificates are a must when buying a respirator
Update from Monday, August 10th, 2020, 3:44 p.m
.: Again, the European rapid warning system Rapex reports two
respiratory masks
that are not demonstrably supposed to protect against corona viruses.
The first mask, a product from
China
, does have a CE mark - but this has not been certified by the responsible body.
As a result, the respirator does not meet health and safety requirements and therefore does not provide adequate protection.

Another product, also from China, promises protection against virus particles, although there is no corresponding certificate.

Rapex warns again of corona masks without a certificate
Update from Monday, July 20, 2020, 5:07 p.m.:
The European rapid warning system Rapex warns again of certain
corona masks
.
In the case of
respiratory masks from
an affected manufacturer, particles and microorganisms can get through the material.
This can increase the risk of infection.
It is a VHC Global brand FFP2 mask.
There is an incorrect CE mark on the product.
However, the responsible body has not certified the mask as protective equipment.
The consumer portal produktwarnung.eu warns of
corona masks
with invalid certificates.
"Unfortunately, even pharmacies often offer FFP2 masks with invalid or incorrect certificates," says the website. When buying, consumers should be presented with the relevant certificate, advises the consumer portal.
Surname | Three-dimensional protective respirator |
brand | VHC Global |
category | FFP2 |
Type / model number | KN95 |
Batch number | 20200420 |
Country of origin | People's Republic of China |
Corona: Warnings are issued against more and more masks - risk of infection
There are also warnings against disposable respiratory masks from a Chinese manufacturer.
The masks for protection against
corona also
have an incorrect CE mark.
The filter capacity of the
FFP2 masks
has not been checked by the responsible body.
It is therefore possible that the product does not meet health and safety requirements and does not adequately
protect
against infection with the
coronavirus
.

Update from Friday, July 17th, 2020, 4:51 p.m.:
After the first
recall
of
Corona respirators
in June, the number of defective products on the market is steadily increasing.
These respiratory masks do not meet the required safety requirements and are not suitable for preventing the corona virus from being transmitted to others.
Five more types of respiratory masks were included in the product warning from the consumer portal www.produktwarnung.eu on July 16, 2020.
It describes these five masks as a "serious risk" product.
Recall of corona respirators with serious defects
All five
corona protective masks
were produced in the People's Republic of China.
However, they were sold by different brands.
They all do not meet the “Ordinance on Personal Protective Equipment” and therefore pose a health risk for wearers and third parties.
In four cases the fabric does not filter enough filters out of the air.
So the germs can be transmitted.
We are therefore
adding
these products
to this
recall
.
In addition, some of the masks do not sit properly on the face and leave openings that are too large.
In addition, three masks are incorrectly labeled and bear a CE mark, although they are not certified as protective equipment by a competent authority.

Recall for corona respirators: This mask does not fit properly
The Corona respirator with the name "Respirator 9591" from the Allta brand does not fit the face correctly and does not cover the face adequately.
Corona viruses could therefore easily get past the mask.
Surname | 9591 respirator |
brand | Allta |
Type / number of the model | 9591, KN95 |

Recall for corona respirator: Incorrect labeling and insufficient filter effect
The
corona respirator
"FFP2 face mask" from Bonwaye bears a CE mark, although it is not certified by the competent authority.
In addition, the filter effect of the material is insufficient and viruses can get through the fabric.
Surname | FFP2 face mask |
brand | Bonwaye |
Type / number of the model | 134949 |
Barcode | Unknown |
Country of origin | People's Republic of China |
Recall for Corona respirator: Unsafe product from an unknown brand
A
corona respirator of an
unknown brand with the name "KN95 protective mask" also has a false CE mark and in this case too the material is too permeable for viruses and bacteria.
Surname | KN95 protective mask |
brand | Unknown |
Batch number | 20200418 |

Recall Corona respirator: Without brand and barcode
Similar to the model above,
the brand of
the
Corona respirator
with the name “Disposable face mask for respiratory protection masks” is not known.
That makes a
recall
particularly difficult.
In this case, too, the filter effect of the substance falls below the prescribed minimum value.
Since the barcode for which this mask is not known, it can easily be mixed up.

Recall for Corona respirators: Inadequate filter effect
The
corona respirator
of the APT brand sold
under the name “KN95 respiratory protection mask”
bears a CE mark, although the mask is not certified.
The KN95 respiratory protection mask also falls well below the prescribed filter effect.
In addition, the mask does not adapt properly to the face.
As a result, the mouth and nose area is inadequately shielded.

Recall for corona respirator: nice name, little effect
From the flowery-sounding brand “XO Simple is beauty” comes the Corona respirator mask “KN95 face mask”.
It has too little filtering effect than prescribed and lets too many particles through the fabric.

Recall for corona respirators: These products are also affected by the warning
Update from Monday, June 29th, 2020, at 4:51 p.m
.: In the meantime, the consumer
portal
product warning warns of many other respiratory masks that should not meet the safety requirements.
But even if more and more defective masks are discovered that are only inadequately designed to
protect
against
corona
, the information about these is unfortunately often insufficient.
In three cases, however, at least something is known about the
respirator
concerned
.
Recall for corona respirators from China: increased risk of infection
The affected
respiratory mask
of the MLKD brand bears a CE mark, but is not certified as protective equipment by a responsible body, according to the product warning.
In addition, the particle and filter retention of the material is inadequate, which
increases the risk of
corona
infection.

Recall respiratory mask: certificate missing - protection against corona not guaranteed
The next
respiratory mask
would indicate a potential for protection against
corona
particles and microorganisms, but here too there is no corresponding certificate from European bodies, according to the product warning consumer portal.

Recall for corona respirator: no certificate for product from China
This
respirator also
comes from
China
and was even rejected at European borders during import attempts.
The masks could have reached
Europe
via other import routes
.
As the product
warning reports,
the mask has a CE mark, but no certification as
corona
protective equipment.
As a result, the product may not meet health and safety requirements.

First report from June 23, 2020, 1.55 p.m
.: Kassel - Currently, in times of
Corona,
respiratory masks seem more in demand than ever, but not every
respiratory mask
helps.
Consumers should inform themselves in advance when buying a mouth and nose cover and not get involved in dubious deals, as can often be found on the Internet.
As the consumer portal product warning reports,
two respiratory masks
have now been
recalled
.
Missing certificate: recall of corona respirator
A
respirator

Hanvico
is currently on a
call
*
concerned, the consumer portal product warning.
Although the product indicates a potential for protection against
corona virus particles
and other microorganisms, neither the filter capacity is certified nor the general use of European bodies and laws approved.
The
product
is said to be an
FFP2 respirator
, but the CE declaration of conformity required for this is missing, according to product warning.

Insufficient protection against corona: recall of KN95 respirator
A Chinese respirator of the type KN95 is also
affected
by a
recall
.
As the consumer portal product warning announces, the particle protection of the material is insufficient and could lead to a large amount of microorganisms being able to get through the respirator.
Should the protection of the
respirator
not be sufficient, this would
greatly increase the risk of
corona infection
.
The product complies with the regulation on personal protective equipment and the relevant European standard.

already taken by the market.
In the case of the Chinese
Inuan
brand respiratory mask
, authorities ordered the
recall
and recommended end users to
stop using
the masks due to the
risk of corona infection
.

- Product Warning (@ Product Warning1) June 18, 2020
Recall of Corona respirator: Certificate urgently needed
A
respirator
with invalid or even false certificates
is often
even offered in
pharmacies
, according to the product warning consumer portal.
However
, we do not know
whether the
corona masks
affected
by the
recall
were offered in pharmacies.
It is recommended that
consumers have
a corresponding certificate shown when purchasing types KN95 and FFP2.
In addition, consumers should not buy KN95 masks if they are not presented with a quick test and an official permit.
Recall of Corona respirator: Beware of counterfeits
The consumer
portal product
warning not only informs about the
recall of
the corona masks, but also that an
FFP2 respirator mask
without a so-called CE mark is not a real FFP2 mask.
A four-digit number from the certifying body must always be given for the CE marking.
If there is any suspicion of a
forgery
or false or invalid certification, this should be reported to the market surveillance authorities or brought to the attention of them.
Corona mask innovation:
A company from Bad Emstal (Kassel district) manufactures corona masks * with a special coating.
This kills viruses and can therefore also help to contain the corona pandemic.
Not the first recall - not every respiratory mask protects against corona
A visor can help against corona instead of a respirator *.
The consumer magazine Öko-Test took a closer look at the so-called "Face Shields".
In the past, product warning warned of more than one inadequate corona respirator.
There was a recall * in several cases.

Recall of cheese *: Health risk from bacteria (Listeria).
Pregnant women are particularly at risk.
Öko-Test has tested mattresses for babies.
Some fail because of serious security deficiencies.
The cheapest mattress, however, is convincing.

Dear readers, in an earlier version of this article we showed an FFP2 respirator as a symbol, but it is not affected by the recall and is perfectly fine. That was a mistake and we apologize for it.
