(ANSA-AFP) - DACCA, SEPTEMBER 05 - At least 12 people have died and some dozen were injured and seriously burned in an explosion in a mosque in Bangladesh and caused, apparently, by a "gas leak".
The episode - which risks having a heavier toll, because at least 25 of the injured have burns on 70-80% of the body - took place in the central province of Narayanganj during the evening prayer on Friday.
According to an initial reconstruction, the gas leak entered the mosque.
The explosion was then triggered by a spark from an air conditioner that was suddenly reignited after an electrical blackout.
Witnesses say that the faithful gathered in prayer were hit by a "ball of fire".
The injured people were transported to a hospital in Dhaka which specializes in grandiosity.
