In his latest film, Briton Jude Law plays a father who has lost his child.

He spoke to the Guardian about what has changed because of his own children.

When he became a father, he cried over everything.

"Everything emotional carries over instantly to my relationship with them, the ability to love and the ability to lose and all that," Law said.

With regard to his role, the reporter wanted to know whether he had imagined in preparation what it would be like if his own offspring died.

"This is murky water," said Law.

"You don't sit there and step into the loss of your own children."

Rather, it is such that one "pokes around" the feeling and thinks about how it could be.

Lots of messages for the children

Law apparently didn’t leave this without a trace: "While we were making the film, my children received a lot of messages saying how much I love them."

The 47-year-old actor is a father of five.

He has three children with his ex-wife Sadie Frost, the other two come from his relationship with model Samantha Burke and singer Catherine Harding.

Law is in a relationship with the psychologist Phillipa Coan, according to media reports, the two married in May 2019.
