The Mönchengladbach District Court pronounced its verdict after a fatal accident in front of a primary school: The 44-year-old defendant was sentenced to a suspended sentence of ten months.
She had taken her children to school in an SUV - and ran over an eight-year-old girl.
The fatal accident occurred in December 2018.
The woman had testified in court that she had only driven walking pace in front of elementary school at around eight in the morning.
Suddenly she saw a shadow.
The warning sensors of her SUV beeped loudly, she tried to evade and braked hard.
But the eight-year-old victim was run over by the more than two-ton car.
The student had previously been taken to school by her father herself.
She died a little later in the hospital.
In her last word, the defendant said she was sorry.
In addition to the suspended sentence, the mother of three was banned from driving for three months and has to complete driver safety training.
