The xenomorph hasn't said its last word.
In an interview with
Forbes
on September 2, Ridley Scott confirmed that the
Alien
saga
was not dead, quite the contrary.
After three feature films directed by James Cameron, David Fincher and Jean-Pierre Jeunet, the director and creator has taken up the torch with
Prometheus
and
Alien: Covenant.
And he does not intend to stop there with a seventh part already in mind.
"
It's in preparation
," said the filmmaker behind one of the most famous and feared creatures of the 7th art.
We have followed a path in trying to reinvent the wheel with
Prometheus
and
Covenant.
Whether or not we go straight back to these films is uncertain, because
Prometheus
has perfectly awakened the franchise,
”he explained.

But Ridley Scott doesn't want to make a simple sequel.
Above all, he seeks to renew the franchise, even if it means reinventing it.
"
You know, you ask yourself basic questions like: Are the Alien, the facehugger and the chestburster running out of breath?
asks the director.
Do we rethink this whole damn thing and just use the franchise title?
This is still the fundamental question.
"
The filmmaker has therefore been working for several years on this new horrific adventure to the detriment of other proposals such as that of Neill Blomkamp.
The director of
District 9
or
Chappie was
working on an
Alien 5
with the return of Sigourney Weaver's character, Ripley.
But the project finally fell through when Ridley Scott returned to the helm of the saga.

The 82-year-old director is accumulating projects in addition to the
Alien
saga
.
If a sequel to his
Gladiator
has still been in the drawers for a few years, the coronavirus seems to have given him an idea for an epidemic feature film.
In the meantime, Ridley Scott is filming his next movie
Last Duel
starring Matt Damon, Adam Driver and Ben Affleck.
Finally, the
Raised by Wolves series
he is producing has just started on HBO Max.
The xenomorph will have to wait a little longer.
