Kassel
- There are over 500
TV sets
in the test database of
Stiftung Warentest
.
With the last
test
, of 14 devices, this was brought up to date.
We have summarized for you which TV sets are the front runners in the test database and which ones should be kept away from.
Experts weight the picture with the TV sets the most in the test
In order to be able to compare the TV sets, the experts from
Stiftung Warentest
tested them in different categories.
In the
test
, the category image was weighted the most.
This makes up 40 percent of the respective overall grade.
In addition to the pure eye test, the image behavior during fast movements was also examined here.
How colors and contrasts changed at different viewing angles was also part of this test category at
Stiftung Warentest
.
The eye test itself was carried out in dimmed light, but it was also tested whether the
TV sets
are well suited for bright surroundings.
Stiftung Warentest checks TV sets: Experts also rate the sound quality in the test
In the test by
Stiftung Warentest
, the sound of the
TV sets was
compared
in addition to the picture
.
In the overall rating, this made up 20 percent.
To be able to evaluate this, three experts were on duty.

This was
not only assessed
in the
test
for films, but also for music and language reproduction.
Stiftung Warentest also assessed the point from which the sound began to be distorted in the TV sets.
Handling the TV sets is an important criterion in the test
The evaluation of the handling of the
TV sets
in the
test
by
Stiftung Warentest also
included 20 percent
in the overall
evaluation
.
Here the testers put the following under the microscope:
On-screen menu
Operation in daily use
remote control
Installation and connections
Operability directly on the device
Internet use and connection
Instructions for use
Recording options
Operation of the USB interface
In the test, experts also examined TV sets for environmental friendliness
In the
test
by
Stiftung Warentest
, the last 20 percent fell equally across the categories of versatility and environmental properties.
When assessing the environmental properties, the power consumption of the TV sets was measured and rated.
And that both in standby mode and during the eye test.
If the devices had a quick start function, the power consumption was also included in the evaluation.
In addition to the power consumption, the
TV sets
were also examined for flame retardants, which have a problematic environmental balance, in a test by Stiftung Warentest.
From the point of view of versatility, the receivers as well as the connections and additional functions were examined.
One brand tops the competition in the test
Of the total of 506
TV
sets
in the test by
Stiftung Warentest
, only eight of the TV sets achieved a very good overall result.
In
test
24 different brands were represented in total.
Only two of the brands had televisions that were rated very good.
Of the eight TV
sets
rated very well in the Stiftung Warentest test, six were from the
LG
brand
, including the 65-inch LG OLED65C97LA (promotional link), and two from the
Samsung
brand
.
The main difference between the models was found in the image category.
Here, the devices from LG were better suited for operation in a bright environment than those of the competitor Samsung, which is why the two Samsung models were only awarded a grade of good in this sub-category.
These are the eight winning products:
LG | OLED65B97LA - 65 inches (Note: 1.4) |
LG | OLED65C97LA - 65 inches (Note: 1.4) |
LG | OLED55B97LA - 55 inches (Note: 1.5) |
LG | OLED55C8 - 55 inches (Note: 1.5) |
LG | OLED55C97LA - 55 inches (Note: 1.5) |
LG | OLED65C8 - 65 inches (Note: 1.5) |
Samsung | GQ65Q85R - 65 inches (Note: 1.5) |

Some brands get bad test results
In
Stiftung Warentest's
test
database,
only two of the total of 506 TV sets performed poorly.
The currently unavailable TV sets both only achieved a poor score of 5.5 in the sound category.
The Live 24C from
Dyon
also only achieved a poor result in the environmental
properties
category with a grade of 4.6.
The reason for this is the environmentally harmful flame retardant decabromobiphenyl ether, which was used in the
TV housing
.
