“De Gaulle”, “30 vies”… here are the new fictions of France Télévisions

Societal telefilms, series on the world of school or in costumes, adaptations of novels or comics ... Anne Holmes, the patroness of fiction


The confinement and interruption of filming upset his plans.

But not the imagination of the authors of future series and TV films.

"The stock is replenished, in particular with units that are faster to turn", rejoices Anne Holmes, director of fiction at France Télévisions, who will present her unpublished projects this Wednesday during the special edition of the La Rochelle fiction festival, organized in Paris until September 18.

From prostitution to glyphosate

Among the ten TV films in preparation, honor to social subjects, notably in "Mis à nu" (on sex-tapes), "Comme des reines" (on adolescent prostitution) and "Intraitable" where Fred Testot and Patrick Timsit will tackle the glyphosate scandal.

Back to school

After the comedy last year, "we are returning to education," says Anne Holmes.

One of the objectives is to expand our offer and reach out to young people with issues that concern them ”.

In addition to the series "La fault à Rousseau" on the tribulations of a philosophy teacher (Charlie Dupont), the filming of "30 lives" will begin soon.

Through the relationship of a geo history teacher embodied by Guillaume Labbé and his students, the six sections will address precariousness, grossophobia, homosexuality… France Télévisions is also betting on the series “Retour à Jules-Ferry” around of a former dunce turned teacher and on "The Dreamers" in a boarding school.

An air of summer saga

With the series “Judged guilty”, embodied in particular by Garance Thénault, Elodie Frenck and Jérome Anger, the public group is surfing the tradition of the summer soap opera.

"We will be in the vein of" The murderous summer "with a heroine who would be the result of rape, family secrets, betrayals, lies," notes Anne Holmes.

A case of women also in "I lied", series for France 3 carried by Camille Lou and Thierry Neuvic where the survivor of a serial killer sixteen years earlier confronts her past and her lies in the light of a new crime.

Make way for the drama over "The Absentee" (8 x 52 minutes) with Thibault de Montalembert and Clotilde Courau: the reappearance of a young girl with amnesia will upset the family of a girl who disappeared 9 years earlier near Dunkirk.

In another universe, “Le code” (6 x 52 minutes for France 2) will take place in a law firm.

"Each case will be carried by a hero of the chain," reveals the boss of fiction.

Annelise Hesme alias "Nina" will play in an episode about a battered woman.

Story in costumes

“De Gaulle” (alias Samuel Labarthe) and the “Jeune Voltaire” (Thomas Solivérès) will not be the only historical figures to take flesh on France 3. At the start of 2021, Josée Dayan will tackle “Diane De Poitiers” in two parts with Isabelle Adjani, Jean Reno, Nicolas Duvauchelle, Mathieu Amalric and Jeanne Balibar.

For her part, Lucie Lucas ("Clem") shoots "The little female", a biopic on Pauline Dubuisson, condemned for having killed her future husband.

"Deux femmes" will immerse Odile Vuillemin ("Profiling", "Why I live" ...) in female action after the Second World War.

Another big piece, the future international co-production "Germinal", inspired by the work of Emile Zola in six episodes.

Filmed by David Hourrègue ("Skam") from the end of September, it will bring together Guillaume de Tonquédec, Thierry Godard, Alix Poisson, Sami Bouajila ...

Novels and comics on screen

Season 3 of "Purple Rivers" (Jean-Christophe Grangé) is on track.

In addition, France Télévisions and the Alliance - which brings together European public services - are preparing the adaptation of "La Jeune Fille et la nuit", the novel by Guillaume Musso and "Around the world in 80 days" by Jules Verne.

Without forgetting “Bug”, future series by and by Enki Bilal (with Dan Franck), an immersion in the near future against a background of digital bug entrusted to Quebec director Daniel Roby at the beginning of 2021.
