Why do towels get scratchy?
Perfect color, perfectly fluffy: you've found your new
favorite
towels and they feel stiff and scratchy after washing and drying them a few times?
While some people appreciate the light peeling effect, there is of course no real spa feeling.
A common cause of so-called
dry rigidity
is
too little air draft during drying
.
The fibers get messy in the washing machine and are not "blown" back in the right direction.
This is why towels usually come out more fluffy from the dryer than from the line.
Too
much or too little detergent
and too
hard water
make towels more and more scratchy over time.

Washing towels: These tricks and home remedies will make towels fluffy
If you don't have a dryer at home, you can help yourself with mild
rigidity by shaking
the
towels vigorously
, knocking them out over the edge of a chair and rolling them up and then unrolling them again.
Harder cases can
be softened
with
vinegar water
.
To do this, soak the towels in vinegar water for about half an hour, then rinse them briefly and then wash them as usual.
This procedure dissolves limescale that has built up on the fibers.
Towels can be so soft: discover them now at SEGMÜLLER
But you can also try this quick method:
Instead of detergent, put about 120 grams of household baking soda in the detergent compartment of your washing machine.
To do this, pour 60 milliliters of white household vinegar into the softener compartment.
Then wash the towels at 60 degrees
(do not under any circumstances
fill
the drum too full), let them dry and enjoy their newly found fluffiness.
With this method you also remove
stains, bacteria and unpleasant odors
from the towels and save yourself the frowned upon fabric softener - and your favorite towels will stay beautiful for a long time.
