In Lille, the temperature of 35.1 ° C recorded on Tuesday was the highest recorded in September by Météo France since the station opened in 1944. The previous record dated from September 1949, with 33.8 ° C.
Tuesday, "we broke records in practically all the stations in the region, except those on the coast", underlined Alain Moreau, forecaster at the northern direction of Météo-France, describing a "quite exceptional episode".
