Half a year ago, Prince Harry gave up his royal duties and moved to the USA with his wife and child. It is now his birthday - and the British royal family is sending him congratulations far away.

It is Prince Harry's birthday - and this is the first since he and his wife Duchess Meghan broke away from the British royal family in March.

After giving up their royal duties, they and their son Archie moved the center of their lives from England to California.

Last year, Duchess Meghan gave public congratulations on her husband's birthday.

At the time, she posted a photo collage of her husband and wrote: "You are the best husband and the greatest father for our son. We love you. All the best!"

But this year it is different: The Instagram account has been closed.

There was one last posting to the followers last March.

However, there were still public congratulations this year from the British royals: They congratulated Prince Harry on his 36th birthday on all Twitter and Instagram channels.

"I wish the Duke of Sussex a happy birthday!" Said Queen Elizabeth II's official Instagram account. There was also a photo showing the monarch with her grandson at a reception three years ago in Buckingham Palace.

Prince William and his family also congratulated his brother with a photo on Instagram: It showed the two brothers and Prince William's wife Duchess Catherine in a race - Prince Harry narrowly won.

Prince Harry's father, Prince Charles, also congratulated his wife, Duchess Camilla: Both a portrait photo of the birthday child and an older picture showing the father and son together were published on her account.

The Queen's grandson lives in the California coastal city of Santa Barbara with his wife Duchess Meghan and young son Archie.

After their break with the royal family, Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan said they wanted to become financially independent.

The couple recently announced that they were producing series and films for the streaming service Netflix.

The contract should last for several years and be very lucrative.
