(ANSA) - BERLIN, SEPTEMBER 19 - Germany has recorded the highest daily number of new coronavirus cases since April 24, with 2,297 new infections, according to the Robert Koch epidemiological surveillance institute.
The country, however, runs about twice as many tests per week as in April, one million compared to 500,000 five months ago.
In total, around 270,070 people have tested positive in Germany since the outbreak began.
9,384 dead, of which six in the last 24 hours.
North Rhine-Westphalia and Bavaria are the two Laenders most affected.
