From the men with the greatest longevity in Trento to the Campania population that is most exposed to the risk of poverty up to the record of road accidents recorded in Lombardy: these are some of the main indications that emerge from the
Regional Yearbook 2020, the annual photograph taken by Eurostat
that allows compare European regions on social, digital, labor, environmental and other issues.
The report throws
light and shadow on the local Italian realities
.
Starting, however, with the
positive records, with several territories of the Peninsula appearing in the 'top 5' of the EU Regions with the highest life expectancy
.
The Autonomous Province of
Trento is in first place for the longevity of men
(82.7 years).
The city itself holds the Italian record of sustainability.
Next, the Madrid region in Spain (82.5 years), the Autonomous Province of Bolzano (82.3 years), Umbria (82.2 years) and the Marches (82.2 years).

But the Italian regions also hold some
negative records, starting with the social one
, with Campania, Sicily and Calabria being among the EU areas with the largest share of the population at risk of poverty.
The black jersey of the ranking goes to Campania
, with a rate of 41.4 percent.
Following Sicily, with a share of 40.7 percent, the Spanish enclave of Ceuta in Morocco (38.3 percent), Extremadura (35.6 percent) in Spain, the Northeast Region in Romania (35.6 per cent) and Severozapaden in Bulgaria (35.1 per cent).

Among the negative records of the Italian territories also the number of road accidents
.
"In absolute terms - reads the Regional Yearbook 2020 - the highest numbers of fatal road accidents have been recorded in a predictable way in some of the most populated regions of the EU. Lombardy has recorded the highest number of deaths from accidents in the 2018 (483), followed by the Rhône Alpes region in France (361), Lazio (338) and Catalonia in Spain (326) ".
Although the Southern Aegean Region in Greece has the highest rate of fatal road accidents in relation to the population.
The report does not lack a chapter on the environment which confirms
the fragility of the Italian territory.

, Sicily, Calabria, Campania, Molise, Valle d'Aosta, Basilicata and Umbria.
