It had only been revealed four days ago: a bust of Roy Black, a bronze head on a stone.

The life dates of the actor and pop singer are engraved on a plate: January 25, 1943 and October 9, 1991. Now the bust in Velden am Wörthersee has been stolen.

According to the police, two unknown perpetrators tore the memorial from its anchoring, as reported by various Austrian media, including the broadcaster ORF and the newspaper "Der Standard".

A surveillance camera filmed how the two people fled after the crime.

An act that can hardly be surpassed in terms of tastelessness, according to a Facebook post by "Velden Tourismus".

"We are appalled by so much ignorance and mindlessness to steal a memorial and to shock relatives, friends and fans and to drag the memory of a great artist into the mud."

The stolen Roy Black bust was the third to be revealed.

The first was set up on the 20th anniversary of his death in 2011 and later stolen, the second caused displeasure among many fans because they did not recognize their idol.

But not only Roy Black seems to be coveted by thieves: Just a week ago, "according to Kurier", unknown persons stole a bust of Ingeborg Bachmann in Klagenfurt.

Roy Black, born in Gerhard Höllerich, was known for hits like "All in White", "The World is Wonderful" and "Someone Loves You".

Black had gone through a major crisis in the 1970s: an alcohol problem, a failed marriage, heart surgery, and tabloid smear campaigns.

At the end of the eighties, his career went up again, he was allowed to appear again on television in addition to coffee trips, fire balls and carnival meetings.

The hotel director played for two seasons in the series "Ein Schloss am Wörthersee".

In 1991 he died of heart failure at the age of 48 in a fisherman's hut in Heldenstein, Upper Bavaria.
