After an illegal car race on the A2 towards Oberhausen, the police seized the driver's license and the car of a 30-year-old man.
This was announced by a spokesman.
A witness reported that the man and another driver had ruthlessly overtaken other road users on the right and left at high speed on Sunday afternoon.
During an overtaking maneuver, she drove in the left lane at 200 kilometers per hour, and next to her another driver was in the middle lane, she reported to the police.
In the rearview mirror, the witness then saw two highly motorized vehicles approaching very quickly.
Both would have overtaken in the right lane and shortly thereafter switched back to the other lanes.
The driver in the middle lane had to brake hard to avoid a collision.
According to the police, the 30-year-old was finally stopped near Kamen after a manhunt.
A witness had filmed the two drivers and informed the officers.
The man had shown himself to be understanding and admitted to having driven an illegal race.
The investigations against the second party are still ongoing.
