Crisis contracts global smartphone spending, -7.9% in 2020

The economic crisis triggered by the pandemic is contracting world spending on smartphones, for which a decline of 7.9% is expected in 2020, to 422.4 billion dollars compared to 458.5 billion in 2019. Idc, according to which users will opt for cheaper models.

In 2020, about three out of four smartphones (73%) delivered worldwide will be priced below $ 400, researchers estimate. The figure is quite in line with that of 2019, while shipments in the 400 to 600 euro range will increase compared to last year, at the expense of more expensive devices.
