Everything for the show: Because Corona does not stop at the important award ceremonies of the film and television world, the producers of the 72nd Emmy Awards had to redesign their otherwise quite glamorous event a bit.
The award ceremony was broadcast live from a studio in LA, but without a red carpet and audience stands full of big stars.
Instead, the producers sent camera kits and microphones to all nominees, who tuned in via live stream.
Many were at home - some in evening attire, others lounging on the sofa at home.
Moderator Kimmel immediately made the circumstances an issue:
Jimmy Kimmel, moderator:
"Hello and welcome to the PandEmmys. It's great to finally see people again."
"Hey, was that me? But when I'm down there, how can I be up here? That would mean that nobody is in the audience. That I'm all alone up here - just like at the prom."
The humor of another show was particularly recognized by the Emmys: the Canadian television series "Schitt's Creek" received awards in all seven categories of the comedy division.
And those involved in the production celebrated their success exuberantly - together and in a suitable atmosphere - as if they had known what was in store for them.
