INSEE has published the first names given by the French to their children in 2019. The podium is unchanged but trends show that it may not last.

With 3,943 Emma born in 2019, the first name retains its first place nationally but has experienced a hell of a loss of speed: -10% in one year.

Emma, Jade and Louise, the podium unchanged

Behind, Lina, Mila and Ambre consolidate their place in the sun.

Within the first 100 names given to little girls, Joy (+ 46%) and Arya (+ 38%) are in fashion, when Léana and Mathilde see their influence drop by 28% and 18% respectively.

Other national trends: the Nola, which go from 51 to 221 annual births, the Liyah, which go from 68 to 252, or the Chelsea which were only 59 to emerge in 2018 and of which 182 small representatives appeared in 2019.

The A and E still occupy a huge majority of the last letters of female first names.

But it is the Tiago who achieve the best progression in one year in the most popular first names: 71% increase in one year and 2,697 births against only 1,575 in 2018. And that without counting the + 584% of the Tyago variant.

Good progress can also be noted for the Ayden (+ 32%) and the Owen (+ 29%).
