After a traffic accident in Ludwigshafen, the drivers affected sprayed each other with pepper spray.
Several parties had to be treated on Monday, including two first aiders, the police said.
At around 2.15 p.m., the two cars collided on Carl-Bosch-Strasse in Ludwigshafen.
One of the drivers then sprayed three people in the other car with pepper spray - including a one-year-old child.
The attacked driver reacted by attacking the man with pepper spray.
The police suspect that the trigger was probably a dispute a long time ago.
