The police chief of the Swabian South / West Presidium in Bavaria, Werner Strößner, is inherited by his wife.
Claudia Strößner, Vice President of the State Office for the Protection of the Constitution, will head the police headquarters in Kempten from November, announced the Bavarian Ministry of the Interior.
Werner Strößner will then retire.
First, the "Bild" newspaper reported on the personnel decision.
Interior Minister Joachim Herrmann (CSU) said the couple was "a successful example" of the compatibility of family and career in the police.
Claudia Strößner combines legal expertise with management experience and social skills.
According to its own information, the Presidium is responsible for around 6000 square kilometers and almost a million inhabitants, including the cities of Kempten, Memmingen and Kaufbeuren.
2000 employees ensure "security and order in the protected area".
