He killed his parents with hammer blows and dozens of knife wounds, citing years of humiliation as the reason. Now a 39-year-old has to go to prison for life.

The Rostock Regional Court has sentenced a 39-year-old man to life imprisonment for the murder of his father and mother.

In addition, the court determined the particular gravity of the guilt.

An early release from prison after 15 years is legally possible, but practically impossible.

The Rostock had confessed to having stabbed his parents to death the night before New Year's Eve 2019 in their apartment where he lived with them.

In the grounds of the judgment, it was said that the 39-year-old was killed because of instinctual selfishness.

He wanted to punish his parents for wanting to throw him out of the apartment.

Years of humiliation of the parents as a motive

The trained butcher did not have any work, accepted cuts in social benefits and became increasingly neglected.

He was cared for by his mother and father.

According to the AFP news agency, they are said to have asked their son to move out one day before Christmas Eve, because they feared the loss of housing benefits themselves.

In the act, the man is said to have first hit his 62-year-old father with a hammer and then stabbed him 21 stitches with a hunting knife.

He then killed the 61-year-old mother with 41 stings.

As a motive, the accused had given years of humiliation by his parents in his confession.

His mother often humiliated him and his father often beat him.
