(ANSA) - WASHINGTON, SEPTEMBER 23 - The US will ban the importation of cigars and rum, and will prohibit American travelers from staying in facilities owned by the Cuban government: Donald Trump announced at the White House in a ceremony to commemorate the invasion of the Bay of Porci, the unsuccessful attempt to overthrow the government of Fidel Castro with the direction of the CIA. The president's move has an electoral flavor, to win over the Hispanic electorate in Florida, one of the states in the balance.
"Today, as part of our continuing struggle against Communist oppression, I announce that the Treasury Department will prohibit American travelers from staying in the Cuban government property," he said. "We will also further restrict the import of American alcohol and tobacco," he added. (HANDLE).
