The United States recorded their 200,000th death on Tuesday attributed to Covid-19, still remaining the country most affected by the epidemic.

In Washington DC, volunteers took the initiative to pay tribute to those who died from the virus, by planting 20,000 small American flags on the lawn of the Washington Monument.

"We discussed the fact that it was really sad not to have had a national memorial for the coronavirus, nobody had done something", explains Morgan Finkelstein, one of the co-organizers of this memorial made by volunteers.

Six weeks before the election, President Donald Trump is not considering further restriction measures and continues to downplay the severity of the virus. Currently, at least 6,000 patients are in intensive care and 1,500 on life support, according to the Covid Tracking Project.
