An impressive meteorological phenomenon occurred late Wednesday afternoon in the Charente sky.
A small tornado formed around 4:30 p.m. on the Ile d'Oléron.
It then crossed the bay, becoming a waterspout and finally dissipated on the coast of Charente… under the surprised eyes of the inhabitants.
Branches of trees lying on the ground, overturned cars… a great deal of damage was observed by residents of the area.
According to France Bleu, the firefighters had to intervene about forty times and 3 minor injuries are to be deplored on the island.
