Munich - The supermarket chain
Rewe
announced the
recall of
a certain baking product.
Affected are the "
Bagels Sesame 340 g
" from
Aldente`s Brotwelt
.
According to the press release, the reason is an “excessive level of pesticide residues” on the sesame seeds.
More precisely, it is about residues of the toxic gas
ethylene oxide
, as Rewe reports.
At high doses this can even cause severe
poisoning
in humans.
Consumers
who
notice symptoms such as headache, dizziness and nausea or vomiting
after consuming such a bagel with a
best before date of 23 September 2020 to 13 November 2020
should have a doctor examine them.

ethylene oxide
can lead
to twitching and cramps in humans, and in the worst case even to coma.
