Ninety minutes without commercial breaks.

The first face-to-face between Donald Trump and Joe Biden will last for Tuesday 29 September at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio.

The American 'Superbowl of politics' will be moderated by Fox host Chris Wallace.

Originally planned at the University of Notre Dame, which then took a step back because of the pandemic, the first debate focuses on six themes, chosen by Wallace himself.

These are the past experiences of Trump and Biden, the Supreme Court, Covid-19, the economy, the racial question and violence in cities and the fairness of the elections.

15 minutes will be dedicated to each topic.

Even in the days of the coronavirus, the two candidates will be on stage at the same time but at a distance and without handshakes.

The audience will be limited to 80-90 people, all tested for Covid-19 in order to avoid risks for the rest of the audience and for Biden and Trump just over a month before the elections.

There is no real-time fact-checking: if any of the candidates say something incorrect on stage, it will be up to the rival to emphasize the alleged error.

The Cleveland appointment is the first of three presidential debates scheduled before November 3.

The next appointment is for October 15th at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts in Miami: it will be moderated by Steve Scully of C-Span and will be town-hall style.

The third and final confrontation is scheduled for October 22 at Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee, and will be conducted by Kristen Welker of NBC.

The first and only face-to-face between the two vice presidential candidates, Kamala Harris and Mike Pence, will take place on October 7 at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City and will be moderated by Susan Page of USA Today.
