(ANSA) - NEW YORK, SEPTEMBER 29 - The governor of California Gavin Newsom has declared a state of emergency in the wine region.

The Glass Fire burning tripled in proportions bringing Napa and Sonoma to their knees.

Some of the more famous wineries, including Chateau Boswell, BlackRock Inn and Meadowood Resort, have been completely destroyed.

On evacuation orders, some 70,000 residents were forced to flee in the middle of the night.

The fire is totally out of control.

And a separate fire, Zogg Fire, also in northern California, has already claimed three lives. Even this fire remains undone and the firefighters are forced to fight against the arid ground and strong winds. Several western states of the country are in the throes of fires: 14 fires in Idaho, 11 in Oregon and 10 in Montana. (HANDLE).
