The actor Daniel Brühl can count on competent help in coping with pressing thoughts.

In the past, the carousel of thought had often turned around with him, but his wife Felicitas, a psychologist, had given him a few tricks on how to combat this.

"My wife taught me to live more in the present and not to brood so much about the past," Brühl told the "Zeitmagazin Mann".

Occasionally he still ends up in the brooding trap.

"I would have, if. I sometimes get into mental loops that are of no use."

With a few practical recommendations from his wife, however, he can quickly end that.

For example with exercises that force him to observe.

"I tell myself in an inner monologue what I experience, what I see, what I hear. It's good when you are as nervous and restless as I am," said Brühl.

The 42-year-old told the magazine ("Good bye, Lenin!", "Inglourious Basterds") how the two met: In a bar, when he was out with a friend from Paris and actually wanted to leave soon.

However, his friend persuaded him to stay: "I saw a girl who is exactly your type. Look at her and then you decide whether you really want to go."

That was "Fee", said Brühl.

The Barcelona-born actor has been married to his wife since 2016.

About a month ago Brühl became a father for the second time, and his wife gave birth to a son.
