The alleged triple murderer of Holzgerlingen in Baden-Württemberg made a confession at the start of the trial.

The now 31-year-old deeply regrets the act, said the man's lawyer in a statement before the Stuttgart district court.

It is not a planned act.

His client acted in an affect.

The public prosecutor's office accuses the defendant of killing his landlord and two other people out of anger over a switched off connection for the WiFi in his apartment.

The alleged perpetrator's lawyer said the loss of control was triggered by a mental illness.

Since the start of the tenancy, the computer scientist has been in a depressive phase.

The defendant lived in the attic apartment of the apartment building.

Suspect was caught after a search

On March 18, the bodies of a 27-year-old woman and her 33-year-old partner and his 62-year-old father were found by the police.

The mother of the 27-year-old who was killed had previously notified the police because the daughter had missed an appointment and could not be reached by phone.

The suspect was caught after a manhunt by an Italian special unit on the Franco-Italian border.

The access was preceded by intensive evaluations of digital traces, the police said.

So the investigators could have traced the escape route of the suspect.
