"In the space of a few days all teachers, even the additional Covid staff, will be in the chair".
The Minister of Education Lucia Azzolina said this in question time to the Chamber, stressing that thanks to the measures taken this year - including the new rankings and the announcement of competitions - the orderly start of the school year is being allowed ".
"The presence of stable and trained teachers and the guarantee of didactic continuity for our students - continued Minister Azzolina, replying in question time to Mr Anzaldi - represent essential elements for the school and an essential objective of the action of the Dicastery led by me. For this reason, even during such complex months, we have never lost sight of all those operations that serve to start the new year and create the conditions for the beginning of the following ones ".
"I am referring first of all to the competitions: we have banned 78,000 places to hire new teachers. We will complete them starting next October 22, to reactivate the recruitment suspended for too long, with serious damage to the school, which without competitions that have a regular frequency may have - as you denounced - all the teachers you need. The entire ministerial administration, central and peripheral, has worked during these months to ensure the completion of operations in line with the resumption of lessons. Through the institution of the provincial rankings for substitutes, unlike in previous years, there has been a reduction in administrative times, thanks to the digitization of the entire procedure ".
The minister recalled that "we published the rankings in good time, avoiding that effect whereby the slowdown of a single school meant that the entire procedure was blocked for most of the territory of each province. Through the multilevel control system imagined, both in the activity of the offices and in that of the schools, errors that have been dragging on for years are also remedied. It is a mechanism that, despite the difficulties of the particular moment, has led to a change of direction in the sign the transparency of the assessments and the speed of completion of the proceedings ".
In conclusion, Azzolina reassured that "the set of measures adopted to achieve the coverage of the chairs is allowing the orderly start of the school year and will guarantee the regular conduct of the educational activities of the schools for the future".
"The extraordinary competition will take place in absolute safety thanks to the territorial distribution and the temporal scansion of the tests there will be no gathering or concentration of candidates beyond what someone says in an instrumental way".
They will be "serious, selective competitions. We need a competitive examination that selects who deserves to teach; families ask for trained teachers".
