(ANSA) - ROME, SEPTEMBER 30 - More than eight cities out of ten pay for smog;
85% is in fact below the sufficiency for the quality of the air: the "tail lights" are "Turin, Rome, Palermo, Milan and Como", which take a vote of zero.
This is what emerges from the new Legambiente 'Mal'aria' report which analyzes pollution over a period of five years (from 2014 to 2018) taking into consideration the values of the World Health Organization (WHO).
The report - presented on the eve of the entry into force of the anti-smog measures in various areas of the country on the basis of the agreement for the areas of the Po valley - with this special edition the report cards on air pollution are assigned to 97 Italian cities, thanks to a comparison of concentrations annual averages of fine particles (Pm10 and Pm2.5) and nitrogen dioxide (NO2).
Legambiente, in a focus on cars contained in the report, then underlines that the non-compliance with anti-pollution regulations by some diesel vehicles has led to an estimated 568 more deaths for the city of Milan alone, due to the 'outlaw' exposure " to NO2 "for one year only".
