(ANSA) - FLORENCE, 01 OCT - The public prosecutor of Massa has appealed against the sentence of the assize court of the Tuscan city which on 27 July acquitted Mina Welby and Marco Cappato of the accusation of instigation and aid in suicide for the death of Davide Trentini, suffering from multiple sclerosis, who died with assisted suicide in Switzerland in 2017. The Luca Coscioni association, of which Welby is co-president and treasurer hood, reports it. At the trial the prosecutor Marco Mansi had asked for Welby and Cappato to 3 years and 4 months of imprisonment, a conviction to the minimum required by law and recognizing all the extenuating circumstances, he explained in the courtroom. "The crime of assisting suicide exists - said the prosecutor -, but I believe in their noble intentions. An act has been completed in the interest of Davide Trentini, who lack the conditions to make it lawful". (HANDLE).
