Mediapart, which now has 200,000 subscribers, announced on Thursday the creation of a post of editorial manager for gender issues, or "
gender editor
", an initiative unique in France.

This new post will be occupied by journalist Lenaïg Bredoux, who has worked in the political service of Mediapart for ten years.

She will coordinate the work of our journalists and freelancers on gender discrimination, the feminist revolution and violence against women, with the Inquiry pole and the Society pole
", specifies Mediapart, which was inspired in particular by the
New York Times
.

The aim is to ensure that the newspaper is inclusive in its editorial treatment and in its internal operations.
In connection with all the services, and in consultation with journalists, it is important that the subjects dealt with in the newspaper `` do not forget '' half the population, take up issues specific to women and do not make them invisible in all of the coverage,
”explains the investigation site.
In addition, the site now offers a daily video broadcast of reports and interviews, led by a team of seven people, a format tested during confinement.
