According to a media report, there are several right-wing extremist suspected cases at the protection of the constitution in North Rhine-Westphalia.
Three out of four suspected cases in the state's interior ministry had worked for an observation team for the protection of the constitution, reports the "Rheinische Post" ("RP"), citing ministry information.
When asked whether the suspected employees were also involved in the surveillance of right-wing extremists, the ministry replied, according to "RP": "Yes, including right-wing extremists."
The observation teams would basically be deployed in all phenomena areas.
"The affected team in the Office for the Protection of the Constitution was disbanded and the management personnel was changed," the ministry said.
According to the media report, three people belonged to the observation group of the Office for the Protection of the Constitution, one person was an administrative clerk in the police department of the Interior Ministry.
They were noticed in social networks and chats because they sent videos "with an Islamic or xenophobic connotation".
The reference to the chat group within the observation team was provided by colleagues who received these videos, reports the "RP".
According to the "RP", the ministry said that the employee in the police department had Facebook contacts with people from the right-wing extremist scene on the Internet.
The North Rhine-Westphalian Ministry of the Interior initiated disciplinary and personnel law measures immediately after it became known, said a spokeswoman.
Two weeks ago, several right-wing extremist chat groups were uncovered by police officers from the state police.
In the interior committee of the state parliament, Interior Minister Herbert Reul (CDU) reported a week ago that a total of 100 employees in the North Rhine-Westphalian police have been suspected of racism or right-wing extremism since 2017.
There are also four cases in the Ministry of the Interior.
Report on a racist chat group at the Berlin police
Meanwhile, according to research by the ARD magazine "Monitor", a chat with racist content has also appeared in the ranks of the Berlin police.
It is said to be the internal chat of a service group of the Berlin police, in which more than 25 officers wrote messages.
Above all, seven officials regularly made clear racist comments, often in the form of supposed jokes, the report says.
Colleagues often commented on the statements with approval.
A supervisor of the group had been informed about racist statements in the chat.
In an email he asked the officials not to share any criminally relevant content.
In addition, he did not intervene.
Berlin's Senator for the Interior, Andreas Geisel (SPD), announced according to "Monitor": "If the allegations prove to be true, this is absolutely unacceptable and has nothing to do with a modern, cosmopolitan capital police force."
