The Memmingen district court is bringing a suspected gang of drug dealers to trial. The six men are accused of having smuggled a large amount of cocaine by truck to a fruit dealer in Neu-Ulm.

In Bavaria, six alleged drug dealers are brought to justice for smuggling almost 500 kilograms of cocaine.

According to a statement by the Memmingen Regional Court, they are said to have used a truck to guide the drug hidden in banana boxes after it had reached the Netherlands by water from Ecuador.

They finally wanted to get the drugs by breaking into the dealer at night.

However, these had already been exchanged for imitations by the police in advance.

The police arrested the alleged perpetrators with the imitations loaded in bags, saying they wanted to move the goods aside with a car.

The dealer is said to have known nothing about the hidden cocaine.

Street sales price of at least 50 million euros - unstretched

The public prosecutor's office accuses the accused of gang-like illicit trading with narcotics in no small amount.

The law provides for a prison sentence of between two and 15 years.

According to the court, the defendants either did not provide any information or stated that they did not know about the cocaine - and that they had been at the scene for other reasons.

The prosecution assumes that the six men between the ages of 23 and 40 as members of a gang wanted to sell the drug for a profit.

"The cocaine, purely by weight, would have had a street sales price of around 50 million euros," said the district court.

"Due to the excellent quality, however, it could have been stretched to a multiple of the amount, which would have increased the retail price accordingly."

Eight days of negotiations have been scheduled for the process that begins on October 15 in the great hall of the Memmingen town hall.
