But the people, faces and fates behind the numbers have often remained pale in public.

50 people with wives and husbands, children, siblings, grandchildren, girlfriends and friends.

They lived in rich countries where the health system works, and also in those where it costs about thirty times a teacher's monthly salary to place a person in hospital.

In the past six months, a large number of people have died of other diseases, such as cancer and heart attacks.

Far too many die as a result of urban air pollution.

Corona means that parting is often omitted: the visit to the death bed, the last hug, the funeral service, which is open to anyone who wants to come.
