A suspicious object was found in a parked train at Deutzer Feld train station in Cologne.
That is what the police said.
Accordingly, this was filled with nails, screws and black powder, but was not ignitable.
"There was no acute danger," said the spokesman.
Experts from the State Criminal Police Office assumed that even if they had been ignited with a lighter, the nails would only have flown a few centimeters.
Search of the parked trains
According to the police, a cleaner had made the find on Saturday night in a parked train.
No passengers got on or off at the depot, the station had been cordoned off in large areas, the police said.
The subject was initially secured by specialists from the Federal Police.
The area will be searched for possible further suspicious objects, said a police spokesman for the news channel n-tv.
"Police officers are now searching the lanes provided here with the support of explosive detection dogs."
The operation can only be ended when it is one hundred percent clear that no other suspicious object has been deposited.
Nothing specific is known about the background.
Both the criminal police and the state security are involved in the investigation, the spokesman said.
