Italy enjoys two fairy tales in one day.

Those of Jannik Sinner and Martina Trevisan who conquer the quarter-finals of Roland Garros.

Nothing to do instead for Lorenzo Sonego who stops in the round of 16, beaten in three sets by the Argentine Diego Schwartzman in three sets with a score of 6-1, 6-3 6-4.

The South Tyrolean (at his first participation in the Parisian tournament) has overtaken the German Alexander Zverev and will now find a notable obstacle on his way, Rafa Nadal, while the Tuscan - who beat Dutch Kiki Bertens with a double 6-4 - will have to deal with another revelation of Roland Garros, the 19 year old Polish Iga Swiatek, who overtook (6-1, 6-2) the first seed of the tournament, the Romanian Simona Halep.

At 19 years and 56 days, Sinner is the youngest in the quarterfinals of a major after Novak Djokovic in Paris in 2006. And the first to go this far at the first Roland Garros since Rafa Nadal (2005).

The Majorcan, Sinner's next opponent, did not give Sebastian Korda a chance.

The blue did not give Alexander Zverev a chance.

He finished 6-3 6-3 4-6 6-3, as if it were normal, without even cheering too much for a historic goal.

Just a proud fist towards the sky of Paris, blue as never before.

The South Tyrolean dominates the game and enters the head of an increasingly nervous Zverev, forcing him to make many mistakes.

A break in the third game and another in the ninth are enough to close with another 6-3, after having literally hit the number 7 in the world.

Sinner has a natural empty pass at the beginning of the third set, when he loses his serve for the first time: the blue recovers the break, but still gives up the bar in the non-game, thus losing the first set of his tournament (6- 4).

The Next Gen champion is impassive: he breaks at the opening of the fourth set and that is enough for him to carry out the most important success of his career in three hours of play.

"I'm living a dream but I believe in dreams".

Martina Trevisan comments at the end of the match with Bertens.

"I can't believe I'm in the quarterfinals here in Paris. It was tough: she's a fantastic player and it was an honor to play her. I get stronger game after game."

Urged on, the blue goes back to talking about her problem with anorexia, now outdated: "I know I've done a great job so far. The message is stay focused on your dreams and never give up your life, the things that you want and what you want to achieve. The match point? I saw Kiki's face suddenly go sad and then I said to myself (laughing) 'he's in!'

And I realized I had won. I think it was one of the best matches of my career. "
