A good year after the turmoil in Düsseldorf's Rheinbad, the district court sentenced a young person for threat.
The court believed he had threatened a lifeguard to kill her.
To do this, the 17-year-old student now has to take part in a reading project on coping with crisis situations and write an essay on the situation of victims.
The process was not public for reasons of youth protection.
According to a court spokeswoman on Wednesday, it could not be clarified in the process whether the defendant was one of the ringleaders of the tumult.
After the incidents last summer, the pool company installed video surveillance, introduced ID controls and hired a security company.
The then 16-year-old defendant is said to have said in July 2019 to a lifeguard "When we see each other privately, I'll slap you on the wall" and "I'll kill you".
At that time, a large group of young people rioted in the Düsseldorf Rheinbad and, according to the police, resisted the instructions of the lifeguards.
The court spokeswoman said that the proceedings could not explain the exact role of the young person in the tumult.
In the summer of 2019, the Düsseldorf bath had to be evacuated several times due to rioting.
In June, hundreds of bathers were involved in a verbal argument with isolated scuffles.
Police cleared the pool and took a suspect into custody.
After two more police operations, the bathroom introduced an identification requirement for visitors.
The riots preoccupied many media and were widely discussed on social networks.
