The Baden-Württemberg police are investigating a stranger who is said to have stolen a man's car.
He had previously denied her a ride, according to a message.
The incident occurred early Thursday morning in Bermatingen in the hinterland of Lake Constance.
The newspaper deliverer parked his car briefly while he was working, inserting the ignition key and leaving the door open.
"With screeching tires"
When he was about 15 meters away from his car, the stranger approached him and asked if she could come with him.
The man refused the request.
The woman then simply got into his car and, according to the police, drove away "with screeching tires".
Less than half an hour later, a witness reported from Friedrichshafen, about 15 kilometers away, that a woman had driven the stolen car onto a traffic island and then fled on foot.
According to a spokesman, the police assume that the thief had previously lost control of the car.
Witnesses said that she appeared drunk.
