In recent days, an emergency intervention was performed on the mitral valve with a beating heart with the Neochord technique, with the placement of gore-tex cords on the diseased limb of the mitral, to save a 65-year-old man.
The intervention at the Cardiochirugia department of the Molinette hospital of the City of Health of Turin, directed by Professor Mauro Rinaldi, according to whom it is the first time in the world that this technique is applied in a heart-beating emergency.
The operation was perfectly successful and the patient was discharged from the hospital after a few days.
