Even in hospital, the virus manages to spread, including among healthcare workers.

The latest case, and not the least: a dozen nurses from the hospital of Timone, in Marseille, have tested positive for the coronavirus, France Bleu reported on Monday.

All nursing staff who test positive work in the same department, that of cardiovascular surgery.

Asked by the radio, Audrey Jolibois, general secretary of the FO union for hospitals in Marseille, explains that this is the case most feared by caregivers which has undoubtedly occurred.

Massive screening with AP-HM

A person would have fallen ill within the family, developing an asymptomatic form of the disease.

She would undoubtedly have contaminated several of her colleagues during lunch breaks, where barrier gestures cannot in fact be fully respected.

“We are witnessing a massacre,” adds the trade unionist.

On Sunday, hearing the news, the Public Assistance of Marseille Hospitals (AP-HM) decided to conduct a massive screening throughout the service.

Staff representatives are due to be received on Tuesday to discuss this subject.

In the space of a month, the AP-HM identified three foci of infection of this type, specifies France Bleu.

The latest concerns the Conception Hospital, where no less than fifteen patients have been identified, including eight caregivers.

Drastic measures had to be taken, such as testing all staff and all patients received in the past two weeks.

The premises have been completely disinfected.

Controversy at Nantes University Hospital

Saturday, it is the situation at the Nantes University Hospital that had challenged.

According to France 3 Pays-de-la Loire, caregivers who tested positive for the coronavirus were able to continue working, according to the CGT and the CFDT, while the management had not wished to comment on these statements, taking refuge behind "medical secrecy" .

Olivier Terrien, CGT secretary general of the CHU, did not hide his exasperation.

"We are in a situation of institutional mistreatment, management is playing Russian roulette with the health of the agents," he explained to France 3. In intensive care, 11 are tested positive, if we continue we will have to close the service.
