The producers of Festigal 2020 have planned a big musical celebration this coming Hanukkah, to mark 40 years of existence for the veteran show.

But then came the corona virus and it turned out that a glittering show with a huge audience would not be able to take place.

The alternative decided upon is to have an online festival.

It will start on November 8 with a series of interactive online activities and end on December 17 with a huge show with the best stars that will be broadcast live online.

"This is a very challenging year," said festival director Hanoch Rosen.

We thought about how we celebrate 40 years of Festigal. We realized it would be hard to get thousands of people into the halls and we had to think about how we invent the wheel. We went for something nostalgic and connecting, an interactive Festigal where the audience takes a real part and everything leads to a huge and one-off show called "MY Festigal".

The plot of this year's Festigal was written by Oren Yaakobi and Shachar Segal and it deals with a group of children who hear that there is no Festigal and try to fight the evil of the decree.

They gather the artists and try to convince them to save the situation, and of course they have to fight various villains who want to thwart the production.

Since this is the 40th year of the festival, many old and young stars will appear this year, including Adam, Ilana Avital, Itzik Cohen, Itai Levy, Eliana Tidhar, Anna Zack, Anna Aronov, Dana Frieder, Harel Skaat, Hani Nachmias, Tal Musari , Yael Bar Zohar, Lee Biran, Liraz Cherki, Maya Buskila, Michal Yanai, Miki Kam, Noa Kirl, Stefan, Static and Ben El, Adi Himmelblau, Oded Menashe, Oz Zehavi, Tzipi Shavit, Rita, Ran Danker, Shachar Hasson , Shiri Maimon, Sarit Hadad and more.

For the purpose of this digital celebration, a special technological interface has been set up where the preview activity will take place online and the show will also be broadcast.

Ticket buyers will be able to enter the site as early as November 8 and participate in the various activities.

Among the activities: interactive trivia questionnaires, glimpses and hints to promote the plot of the Festigal, exposure of songs from the show and more.

Every weekend, video tutorials will be posted on the site in areas such as art, sports, cooking, dancing and more.

The show itself, which will air at the end of 40 "days online", in the eighth candle of Hanukkah, will include the new songs that are integrated into the festival plot and also the greatest festival songs of all time in new arrangements and intriguing performances.

In the best tradition, the show will include dozens of dancers, spectacular costumes and acrobats.

The production of the show promises that one of the topics that will be emphasized in this year's show will be female empowerment.

A number of singers, old and young, will take the stage and sing a new and original song written by Sarit Hadad, Tamar Yahalomi, Yonatan Kalimi and Doron Medli.
